Just in time for Halloween, here is a little skeleton kitty:

This one is not very difficult to make. At the bottom of this post, you will find the printable PDF. There are two versions, the ‘regular’ one with a height of app. 8cm (3″) and a larger one app. 14cm (5 1/2 “) in height.

Here is how to build it: The templates are numbered. Glue each flap to the opposing side labeled with the same number. Start with the head:

Fold the black faces back and glue flaps 1 and 2 in place, forming the ears:

2015-10-23 16.17.50

Now attach the second part via flaps 3 and 4:

2015-10-23 16.18.40

Then fold the sides forward and glue them in place:

2015-10-23 16.19.57

2015-10-23 16.21.07

Finally, close the bottom of the head:

2015-10-23 16.22.22

To make it look better, you can fill in the white edges with a black felt tip pen:

2015-10-23 16.22.54

Next comes the body:

2015-10-23 16.23.32

This is basically a box with one curved face. Just follow the numbers:

2015-10-23 16.25.23

2015-10-23 16.26.53

Attach the tail:

2015-10-23 16.30.59

Now come the hind legs. They are symmetrical, so I’ll just show how the first one is done:

2015-10-23 16.28.11

Glue flaps 24-27 to the side face, then flap 28 to the edge where the arm ends. Note that the foot (which in cats is much longer than in humans) extends beyond the point where flap no. 28 attaches:

2015-10-23 16.29.24

Close the shape, then glue it to the body. There are two faces attaching to the body: No. 33 attaches to the side, and no. 34 to the bottom:

2015-10-23 16.31.24

This is what the finished body looks like:

2015-10-23 16.34.39

Finally, glue the head to the body. You can actually give it any angle you like. If you want, you can make your skeleton kitty look to the side.

Speaking of skeletons, don’t forget to check out my human skeleton as well.

  1. Kirsten Searcy,

I find this to be IMPOSSIBLE. It doesn’t print the fold lines and the directions are extremely unclear. Even printing the large version is still tiny. I would love to see step by step pictures or instructions as I am now incredibly frustrated. My son hoped to use this for a science project model. Back to square 1. Picking a new project.

    1. admin,

I am very sorry you encountered problems building the model! I know exactly how frustrating a failed crafting project is, especially with kids. I will try to provide a step-by-step tutorial in the near future.

  2. Jessica,

I just finished up with Skeleton Kitty tonight. This was my first paper craft attempt. It took me a little longer than I thought it might but it wasn’t hard- just took time to get it together and glued properly. Love skeleton kitty- would love more skeleton animals! Going to display for Halloween. Thanks!

    1. admin,

Congratulations on your first papercraft build! Let’s see about more skeleton animals…

  3. jet,

thank you for the sharing and free template;-D

  4. Trudy McDaniel,

What paper do you recommend for this project? Links to said paper on Amazon in US would be appreciated.

    1. admin,

Hi Trudy, thanks for the question! Your comment has actually prompted me to go into a bit more detail concerning the materials for making this and the other models on my site. I have added a right-hand side bar which lists a few items, including cardstock options, with links to Amazon. Hope it helps.

  5. mary-jo lang,

That is the greatest cat ever! I am not totally crazy over cats, but I will definitely make this one and enjoy it! Thanks for sharing your genius!

  6. Anne,

  7. Rick,

Found this relly cool model at papercraftsquare.com, had to come to your site to download it. What a great halloween treat. This is a win win for me since I like both cats and skeletons. Thanks for sharing.

    Regards,
    Rick
